FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the kittens so expensive?

The pricing on our kittens is driven by the amount of money invested in each cat, in each litter. We do complete genetic and health testing on all of our breeding stock; we also provide complete vetting for each kitten. We pay the cost up front to hopefully reduce your expenses down the road.

Is the health testing perfect? No, of course not. But your chances of getting a sick kitten or one with congenital defects or a predisposition to develop HCM is much higher if you purchase from a breeder who does NOT do all of the genetic and health testing. We also offer a health guarantee with each kitten.

What should an ethical breeder be doing to ensure that the kittens they are selling are as healthy as humanly possible?

  • All of our adult cats are scanned for HCM or any cardiac abnormalities at least once a year, by a board certified cardiologist. Any cat with an abnormal scan will immediately be removed from our breeding program.
  • Genetic screening is done on all breeding cats to rule out known, testable conditions.
  • Our contract includes a health and HCM guarantee.
  • The contract requires that the cat be surrendered back to the us should you become unable to continue to provide a home or appropriate care for the cat in the future.
  • Kittens are kept in the cattery until they are 12 to 14 weeks old.
  • All kittens will be vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before they go to their new homes.
  • All kittens have been seen and examined by a licensed veterinarian at least twice prior to sale.

All of this care and testing comes at an expense. And don’t even get me started on the cost of premium cat food and the amount of litter these cats go through.

Do you guarantee the health of the kittens?

Yes. See the Sales Agreement for details of our health guarantee.

Do you offer payment plans?

We do, however each kitten must be paid for in full prior to being released from our cattery. Contact us about paying in installments.

Can I see the kittens?

Yes, you can. If you live within driving distance, we are happy to arrange an in-person visit with the cats / kittens. If you live out of state and this isn’t practical, we are glad to Facetime or video call so that you can see the kittens.

What happens after I made a deposit to reserve a kitten?

Our kittens stay in the cattery until they are 12-14 weeks of age. Once you have made a deposit, the kitten is considered yours and you will receive weekly updates, including pictures, via email or text. We will also schedule Facetime “visits” if you are too far away to come by in person.

What if I make a deposit and then change my mind?

Deposits are considered non-refundable. However, we do allow reassignment of the deposit to another kitten within 12 months. If we have fewer litters than anticipated in a given year, this timeframe may be extended to as long as 18 months.

Do you litterbox train the kittens?

Yes, we do. They start off with small, low sided pans, then move to standard scoopable litterboxes. We also have a variety of different automatic litterboxes for the cats, so your kitten will have experience with all of these prior to coming to your home.
